noun - Thermogenesis is the process of heat production in organisms. It occurs mostly in warm-blooded animals including among Tibetan monks who can create heat through the power of their thoughts when they are exposed to cold.

Anticipatory thermogenesis, in contrast, is the creation of heat before an event. Professor Tim Noakes has documented how Lewis Pugh's core body temperature rises before he get into cold water - or anticipatory thermogenesis.
