Poliana Okimoto Cintra is a world-class professional Brazilian open water swimmer. She was the top-ranked FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup swimmer in the 2010 season. She received the 2010 World Open Water Swimming Woman of the Year award from the World Open Water Swimming Association.

She competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where she finished 7th in the women's 10 km race. She also swam at the 2008 FINA World Open Water Swimming Championships in Sevilla, Spain and qualified for the 2012 women's Olympic 10K Marathon Swim.

As a former pool swimmer turned marathon swimmer who overcame her trepidation of the open water, Okimoto was the silver medalist in the women's 10K Marathon Swim at both the 2007 and 2011 Pan American Games and won the overall title of the 2010 FINA 10KM Marathon Swimming World Cup series. She is coached by her husband Ricardo Cintra.

FINA World Championships

Poliana placed 6th (2:02:13.6) in the 2011 FINA World Championships in the 10K Marathon Swim in Shanghai, China which qualified her for her second Olympics at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She finished second in the 5 km race at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain on 20 July 2013.

Poliana won the gold medal in the 10 km marathon swim at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain on 23 July 2 days after capturing a silver medal in the 5 km race in addition to a bronze medal in the 5 km Team Pursuit later in the competition.
