Colin Hill
The Open Water Ambassador of the Year is an award given by H2Open Magazine, a recognition designed to celebrate achievement in open water swimming. The 2012 recipient was Colin Hill of Great Britain. He was recognized for his work to bring Olympic marathon swimming to London and for raising the profile of open water swimming through television and other media.

Hill is the visionary and impetus of the British Gas Great Swim Series and currently the Marathon Swimming Technical Operations Manager for the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games for the 2012 London Olympics based in London. Hill is responsible for producing all aspects of the Olympic 10K Marathon Swim at the 2012 London Olympics. It will be a massively attended event in Serpentine in the middle of Hyde Park. He is also a regular contributor to H2Open Magazine and appears frequently on British television programmes.

Hill is as passionate about taking part in open water swimming as he is for organising events. On 28 September 2009, he completed the English Channel solo in 10 hours 30 minutes. His other swims of note include:

- Windermere, UK two way (21 miles)- 10 hours 30 mins
- Winter Swimming World Championships, Latvia 2012 - World Age Group Champion, 'Endurance Swim' 450m
- Hellespont Race (200th anniversary Swim of Lord Byron's Crossing) - Asia to Europe (Turkey) 5km - first place
- Strait of Messina (Sicily to Italy)
- Distance Swim Challenge (Long Beach California, USA) 12.7 miles
- Setubal Bay, Portugal 2km race (Age group champion)
- Loch Earne, Ireland, 6 person relay 48 miles
- Strait of Gibraltar (Europe to Africa) - 3 hours 40 minutes 7 October 2011
- Winter Swimming World Championship (Latvia 2012) - World Age Group Champion for 450m endurance swim
