Mull of Kintyre
Wayne Soutter's course across the North Channel at the Mull of Kintyre
Mull of Kintyre(formerly Cantyre) is the southwesternmost tip of the Kintyre Peninsula in southwest Scotland. From here, the Antrim coast is visible and an historic lighthouse guides shipping in the North Channel.

The Antrim coast of Northern Ireland is clearly visible from the Mull. Notoriously strong currents plague the tip of the Kintyre Peninsula creating a hazard to unmotorised craft and virtually impossible for swimmers, although Wayne Soutter became the first person to swim across this waterway in 2012.
