Martin Duggan, Fermoy (1993–2007).
Martin Duggan was a schoolboy from Fermoy, Ireland who drowned accidentally in the River Blackwater on 12 July 2007, aged 14 years. In his memory, the annual Blackwater Swim, which is held in the town, changed its name to the Martin Duggan Memorial Swim. This a 2 km swim in the River Blackwater at which the Martin Duggan Memorial Shield is awarded to the youngest swimmer to complete the swim.

The Martin Duggan Memorial Shield is awarded to the youngest swimmer to complete the Martin Duggan Memorial Swim. It was first awarded in 2009 having being donated to the event by the Duggan family. Previous recipients include:
