Margaret (Maggie) Kidd

Margaret "Maggie" Hodgart nee Kidd is an open water swimmer from Scotland who crossed the English Channel on 23 July 1987 and the North Channel on 23 August 1988.

She also competed for Scotland at numerous marathon swims including the Loch Lomond, Loch Rannoch, Lake Windermere, 2-way Lake Windermere, Ailsa Craig to Girvan, Suez Canal, Lake Zurich, Loch Earn, Lough Earn (Ireland), Gallway Bay (Ireland) and Tay Swims. She has swum across Windermere ten times. A life-long resident of Maybole, she is the only person from Ayrshire to have swam the English Channel and only Scots woman to have swam North Channel.
