Marcus Connaughton is the radio personality, the voice, and authority behind Seascapes. He is a one-man dynamo behind the microphone. Seascapes is broadcast online around the world.

Connaughton is a veteran of the Irish record industry. In the late 1980s he joined RTE, Ireland's national public service broadcaster, as a radio producer. Over the past 20+ years, he has produced a wide range of programming from the Metal Show on 2FM to Bluestime on RTE Radio 1. He was invited to deliver the Inaugural Rory Gallagher Memorial Lecture in November 1995 in Rory's home city of Cork. He has compered and spoken at numerous tributes to the late guitarist in Ireland, Britain and Europe. Connaughton presents and produces RTE Radio 1's maritime programme, Seascapes.


Seascapes is a Irish radio programme covering maritime matters broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1 presented until recently by Connaughton. The programme deals with all subjects of maritime interest, from leisure to commercial shipping, as well as fishing and the environment. Seascapes, which has been running since the 1990s, is one of the most popular night-time programmes on RTÉ Radio 1. Seascapes is made up of various segments put in Cork, Ireland. These include reports from the RNLI lifeboat service, a correspondent from Ireland's offshore islands, official maritime notices, the inland waterways and a nostalgic look back at marine events from times past. The 1,000th edition of Seascapes was broadcast in mid December 2008 and featured two recorded programmes from the RNLI's new Irish Headquarters in Swords, County Dublin. Seascapes is broadcast online around the world.
