Marc Lewis is an avid and accomplished open water swimmer who has completed the Catalina Channel and 27.5 miles from Santa Rosa Island to the California mainland on 12 July 2008 to Coal Oil Point in 15 hours 46 minutes. Lewis is a lifetime member of the Catalina Channel Swimming Federation. He has completed two of the Southern California Eight. His unprecedented swim from Santa Rosa Island to the mainland was documented in a film called The Crossing, directed by Stephen Lewis.
