Lello Barbuto was inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 1992 as an Honour Administrator. The Italian administrator is the long-time race organizer of the professional 36K (22-mile) Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli Swim. He was the first president of the International Marathon Swimming Association. Under his leadership, the sport of professional marathon swimming enjoyed a strong resurgence and the World Series of Marathon Swimming was established.
