Lamiaa Zahy

Lamiaa Zahy is an open water swimmer who from Egypt who successfully completed the Catalina Channel from Catalina Island to the California mainland on 20 August 1984 in 9 hours 52 minutes at the 1984 USA Long Distance International Championships which was the first race across the Catalina Channel since the Wrigley Ocean Marathon in 1927. The race was 5 miles longer than the traditional Catalina Channel crossings.
