John Defoe is an escort boat pilot with the Vancouver Open Water Swim Association and captains the Salish Sea Swim in Vancouver, Canada. He is a well-known environmental activist, guide and resident of the South Sunshine Coast. He escorted Fin Donnelly on his 1992 record-setting ‘Save Georgia Strait’ swim crossing in support of Georgia Strait Alliance.
