From Openwaterpedia
noun - In Case of Emergency or ICE is a contact used in emergencies that is listed in a person's mobile phone. Developed by British paramedic Bob Brotchie in 2005, the ICE program encourages people to enter their emergency contacts in their mobile phone under the name ICE (In Case of Emergency). Swimmers can also list multiple emergency contacts as ICE1, ICE2, etc. Paramedics, firefighters, police officers and hospital personnel use ICE to contact family members in emergency situations.
