Finy Fichera from Taormina, Italy is a Sicilian masters swimmer who completed a double-crossing of the Strait of Messina in Sicily, Italy at the age of 82 in 2 hours 46 minutes in 2010. In 2008, Fichera completed a single crossing from Sicily to mainland Italy across the Strait of Messina. He was escorted by pilot Giovanni Arena and was nominated for the 2010 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year.

Fichera won the 800m freestyle at the Italian Masters Championships and participated in the Goteborg's World Masters Swimming Championships. He has one eye which makes open-water swiming a real challenge.
