noun - And extreme relay is a relay that consists of open water swimmers who do swim under extreme conditions in terms of distance, water temperature, or water conditions and can include channel swimming, ice swimming, or marathon swimming. An extreme relay is conducted in bodies of water that can range from water temperatures below 5ºC or above 28ºC.
