David Shafer, Ph.D. is a member of the board of directors of the White Mountain Aquatic Foundation, a 501(3)c nonprofit organization that was created to establish a multiple-use aquatic center in the Mt. Washington Valley in the state of New Hampshire. The purpose of the proposed aquatic center is to provide aquatic education, recreation, safety, competition, fitness and rehabilitation services to the local community that will enhance the health and quality of life, and strengthen the ties of community for its residents and visitors.
Shafer has been involved in competitive swimming, swim coaching and teaching swimming since he was 8 years old. He swam competitively through college at Florida State University. Throughout his adult life he has coached competitive swimmers, taught both children and adults to swim and managed swimming pools and swimming teams.
He earned a Ph.D. in Social Psychology at Brandeis University in 1999 and has worked as a University Professor, Trial Consultant and in the Financial Services Industry.
