From Openwaterpediaopen water swimmer who is coach of the Dallas Aquatic Masters and the Maximum Damage. He was the 2010 USMS Coach of the Year and was a five-time NCAA Division I All American at Southern Methodist University and a frequent participant in open water swims across the United States. He won the Waikiki Roughwater Swim and has competed in World Championships and the Pan Pacific Championships. He holds Masters Swimming world records and U.S. Masters Swimming records in several events including the 200 butterfly, 1500 freestyle and won the 10K national open water swimming championship.
Patten has coached swimming for over 20 years and is the Co-Founder and Head Coach of the Dallas Aquatic Masters or DAM. He has participated in numerous relays at the Lake Travis Relay in Texas and Maui Channel Swim in Hawaii.

DAM or the Dallas Aquatic Masters is one of the largest masters swimming teams in the world. Co-founded and co-owned by Bobby Patten and Olympic champion Jim Montgomery, it is a year-round adult swimming team geared towards swimming in the pool and open bodies of water for fitness, fun and competition. DAM offers expertly designed adult group swim programs and adult private lessons to suit the needs of adults of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
