Bernd Berkhahn is the head coach of the German open water swimming team that won all titles at the 2011 European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships at Navia, Spain. His swimmers won all four titles: Svenja Zihsler as 5 km individual female champion, Rob Muffels as 5 km individual male champion and German Team as the 3 km team event.
He received the Coach of the Year award at the 2012 H2Open Awards organized by H2Open Magazine, an award designed to celebrate achievement in open water swimming.Co Coach Berkhahn's swimmers picked up all the top spots at the 2011 European Open Water Swimming Junior Championships.
