Ben Huggard

Ben Huggard was a marathon swimmer who attempted to swim a 165-mile swim in the Atlantic Ocean from Florida to the Bahamas in 1975 in what he promoted as the Swim of the Century. He lasted nearly 30 hours and was pulled from the water short of his goal. Huggard was the 49th person to swim the English Channel from England to France in 1971 in 15 hours 14 minutes. He was also very active in the Manhattan Island Marathon Swims and was in the first race arranged by Drury Gallagher.
