adjective - Barrasque means to swim several marathon swims during one specific period (e.g., one summer season or calendar name). Named after Dave Barra who completed the following swims in 2010: 17.5-mile Ederle Swim (New York-New Jersey), 9.6-mile Maui Channel (Lanai and Maui), 24-mile Tampa Bay Marathon Swim (Florida), 28.5-mile Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (New York), 20.2-mile Catalina Channel (Catalina-California), 8-mile Boston Light Swim (Massachusetts), English Channel (England-France), and the 5 km CIBBOWS Aquarium (New York).

Origin

First used by Steven Munatones in the Daily News of Open Water Swimming in 2010.
