Alina Warren is an open water swimmer from Scotland who swam along the entire Great Glen Way. Her swims have included all 16 lochs in the Trossachs, 3 river Severn swims, Llyn Celyn (good cold lake to help with Ness) and the Welsh coast.

For her Great Glen Way 8-day stage swim, Warren raised money for the RNLI lifeboats.

[edit] 2012 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year Nomination

Warren's Great Glen Way swim was nominated for the 2012 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year award. Her World Open Water Swimming Association nomination reads,

The Great Glen Way presents all kinds of natural beauty. Previously, the 117 km path is exclusively traversed on land or via boat or bike. But for Alina Warren, the Great Glen Way presented a different sort of opportunity and challenge. Made up of Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy with a number of whitewater rapids, Warren envisioned swimming the Great Glen Way. It was her aqueous solution to the traditional walk. Fast-flowing for sure, but dangerous in every way. But with the support of her father, the university student imagined a new way to complete the Great Glen Way. Sporting a helmet in addition to a swim cap, she worked to obtain government permission and completed an unprecedented 8-day stage swim. For her creativity in planning and receiving permission for a new adventure, for her diligence in completing the 117 km stage swim, for the audacity of her dreams, Alina Warren’s Great Glen Way stage swim is a worthy nominee for the 2012 WOWSA Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year.
