noun - Age-group swimming (or competitive swimming) is a sport where pool and open water swimmers race under the age of 19 years compete to improve upon their time or to beat their competitors in any given event. Age-group swimmers are competitive swimmers who undergo various cycles of training and swimming stroke instruction.

There are individual swimming events for the butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and individual medley and 4 types of relays that are governed by the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) or their member organisations in the respective countries.
